BSP announces new General Manager Digital

“Bank South Pacific prides itself in developing staff at all levels of the organisation,” said BSP Chief Executive Officer, Robin Fleming, when announcing the appointment of Nuni Kulu as General Manager Digital.

Fleming said BSP was pleased to announce the appointment of Kulu, effective 1st January, 2019, as she joins Hari Rabura, General Manager Human Resources, as the second female to be appointed to the Executive of BSP, the largest bank in the South Pacific.

When asked about her elevation to the Executive of BSP, Nuni said this is a very proud moment for her and her family who have supported her throughout her career with BSP.

Nuni joined the former PNGBC as a graduate and has undertaken numerous roles in Treasury and Retail Banking during the course of her career.

Both Nuni and Hari were members of BSP’s Leadership Development Program and have benefited from leadership and management training at Melbourne Business School and Insead College in France.

BSP has 42 participants in its Leadership Program with members of the program coming from PNG and as well as Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu, and the program has already been a success with a number of the participants having received promotions within BSP.

The program also grooms developing and emerging leaders as well as more senior leaders such as Nuni and Hari.

“Nuni’s appointment as General Manager Digital also reflects BSP’s ongoing commitment to enhancing and increasing our digital services,” said Fleming.

“BSP has been the market leader in electronic and digital banking for many years now, being the first bank to launch electronic cards, commit to an unprecedented rollout of ATMs and EFTPoS terminals to support electronic transactions, develop tablet-based customer acquisition, making mobile phone banking available with its USSD phone banking and its smartphone app and of course internet banking.

“Nuni will have responsibility for rolling out an even more aggressive digital product strategy.”

The BSP Group CEO added that he and the board have every confidence in Nuni’s capability to effectively execute and manage this strategy.

“Nuni hails from Manus and holds a Bachelor of Commerce attained at the Australian National University with many years of experience with PNGBC / BSP and is a fine example of Papua New Guineans excelling in their respective fields,” stated Fleming.
