Digicel launches leadership program

Digicel Pacific has announced that it has launched Digicel ASPIRE, a development programme designed to provide leadership training for high potential Digicel Staff to support and prepare them to move into future leadership positions within its business.

Digicel Regional Chief Executive Officer, Colin Stone, made the announcement at the ASPIRE launch in Suva Friday. “We received a very strong response to the programme from staff across the Pacific.  The finalists were selected based on the quality and comprehensiveness of their individual ASPIRE applications in conjunction with a rigorous selection process.  20 Pacific based staff selected Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and Nauru will be the initial participants in this inaugural twelve month program. This is complemented by a further 30 future leaders from the Digicel business in PNG.”

“All ASPIRE participants will participate in a twelve-month programme which will be delivered through a combination of learning methods, including but not limited to, classroom training, on the job training, mentoring, coaching, recommended reading materials, quarterly meet the CEO sessions, lunch and learn sessions and observer seats at board meetings.  Each participant will also complete a predictive index assessment and receive individual assessment read backs to enable them to understand their own behavioural style and that of their direct reports,” commented Colin.

Participants will be required to attend a one week intensive workshop every quarter and will be provided with individual external executive coaching sessions over the course of the ASPIRE programme.  They will have unlimited access to a leadership helpline for the duration of this programme.

He added, “This programme is another example of the continued commitment from Digicel to build leadership capacity across its markets. Digicel has fortunately been able to attract some fantastic staff with huge potential and want to build on this for the future, programmes like Digicel ASPIRE are positioned to ensure that our high potential staff develop their leadership skills and best prepare them for future senior leadership roles within our business.”

Digicel ASPIRE commences on Monday 23rd April with the first training session in Suva.
