Marshalls motion set for today

A no confidence motion against the newly elected Marshall Islands President, Casten Nemra, has been set for this morning in Majuro.

Mr Nemra was only inaugurated a week ago, after winning the presidency by a one-vote margin in the 33-seat parliament earlier this month.

The opposition won a vote in parliament today for the motion to be put tomorrow.

Our correspondent in Majuro says a motion has never been filed so soon after an inauguration, and it reflects the lack of a clear majority and shifting coalitions, rather than poor performance by Mr Nemra.

The parliament is scheduled to vote on the motion at 10am
