PNG Sports Minister Tkatchenko on fact finding mission to Tonga

Papua New Guinea Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko will be leading a high powered delegation to Tonga today.

The main aim of the trip is to assesses the Pacific Kingdom’s sporting infrastructure and come up with an estimate monetary figure that Papua New Guinea Government will give to Tonga in its preparation to host the 2019 Pacific Games. 

Tkatchenko told Loop PNG, that engineers and architectures from the Department of Works and PNG Sports Foundation CEO  Peter Tsiamalili Jnr will be accompanying him for the four-day trip.

“We will come back with a decision because it is a fact finding trip.

“This shows that PNG is in tune, and will support our smaller Pacific Island countries.

Tkatchenko in an earlier interview labelled a Tonga local media report of PNG to give K102 million (US$35 million) to Tonga as “misleading and totally not true
