Princess Charlotte's first birthday gifts revealed - including All Blacks merchandise

She's only just turned one, but Princess Charlotte's rugby loyalties appear to have been decided for her by uncle Prince Harry, who gifted the tot New Zealand teams' merchandise for her birthday.

The littlest royal received gifts and letters from 64 countries to mark her birthday on Monday, with a list released by Kensington Palace revealing several presents with a distinctly Kiwi flavour.

Among them were an All Blacks sleepsuit and a Wellington Rugby snowsuit, which Harry brought back from New Zealand last year, Britain's Press Association reported.

An avid rugby fan himself, Harry's backed England fervently in the past, but after the outcome of last year's Rugby World Cup, it seems he's setting his niece up to back a winning side.

Prime Minister John Key sent the young princess a selection of Kiwi-made teddy bears, baby blankets and booties, the palace said.

The presents were made by Petone wool company Stansborough, which also created the princess' baby gifts - another teddy bear and woollen blankets - a year ago.

Given the royals' power to move merchandise, the gifts from Harry and Key could spell a boon for the Kiwi businesses.

Aunty Pippa Middleton, on the other hand, went with a highly practical - if somewhat bland - gift: biodegradable nappies.

Among the other gifts, sent from leaders, groups and fans from Armenia to Zambia, were:

* A copy of Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales, from British Prime Minister David Cameron

* A Tasmanian merino wool cot blanket and a A$10,000 donation to an animal sanctuary, from the Australian government

* Another snowsuit and a C$100,000 donation to Immunize Canada, from former Canadian

Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Princess Charlotte also recently received a jigsaw and soft toy of the United States' first couple's dog Bo, from President Barack Obama and wife Michelle, during their visit to London last month. Her brother, Prince George, has a matching toy Bo.

The most extravagant gift Princess Charlotte received in her first year, detailed on Monday, was an 18k white gold rattle featuring diamonds, rubies and sapphires, worth £40,000, gifted by the Natural Sapphire Company in the US.

Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto and wife Angélica Rivera gave Charlotte a silver rattle during their visit to the UK last year, while Chinese President Xi Jinping gave the tot a set of silk figurines depicting Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber last October.
