The Tonga cabinet has approved a five 5 percent cost of living allowance, or COLA, for civil servants.
The payment of the COLA will be made before December 22nd this year.
Radio Tonga says the increase in the prices of goods and services determines the application of the COLA adjustment.
Each public enterprise gets the final say on whether they will apply the 5 percent increase.
