'Wreck-It Ralph 2' in the works for 2018 release

Ralph is coming back for more wrecking. Disney announced Thursday that they are officially making a sequel to their highly successful 2012 animated movie, "Wreck it Ralph."

John C. Reilly will reclaim his role as the arcade villain who decides he doesn't want to be so bad anymore.

Disney announced the news via Facebook Live with the film's directors, Rich Moore and Phil Johnston. Reilly made a surprise cameo and popped up wearing Ralph's giant arms.

"I would like to say to the internet right now officially that Disney animation is making the sequel to 'Wreck-it Ralph,'" Reilly said. "And it comes out March 9, 2018, there ya go!"

Reilly said the plot was "top secret," but did reveal "Ralph leaves the arcade and wrecks the internet! What could go wrong?"

"Wreck-It Ralph" grossed more than $471 million worldwide. Disney is growing several animated film franchises with "Frozen 2," "Cars 3" and "Toy Story 4" also in the works.
