All Blacks 7s captain rates Oceania 7s to be tough this year

All Blacks 7s Sam Dickson believes that competition in sevens rugby is always tough when it’s hosted in Fiji.

“It’s my first time here in Fiji, knowing how passionate Fiji fans are all over the world, no doubt it’s going to be twice as crazy,” Dickson said.

The 29-year-old will captain the side in the two-day tournament.

“It’s an honour being named captain this week.

“We got a lot of talent in our side for this weekend, and we’re looking forward to that.

“I’ll probably be just telling everyone to worry about their own job and their role and they should gel into the whole team performance.”

NZ last met Fiji in the Oceania 7s in last year’s final where Fiji won 26-0.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will be taking on Nauru in their opening game at 4.36pm (local time) at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
