Kiwi U-19 beat Tonga to qualify for FIFA U-20 World Cup

New Zealand U-19 women’s team has secured their spot at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France next year after concluding the OFC U-19 Women’s campaign on a high note at Ngahue Reserve in Auckland.

They set a clean record winning all of their matches from day one of the championship before nailing Tonga 9-0 today.

The game was a matter for the Kiwi girls to formalize their position as they were declared winners early after they sent Samoa packing 6-0 during their fourth match.

Although they claimed their title earlier they did not give any chances for the Tongan girls to penetrate through their goal mouth.

Tonga from the start, kicked of the game with strong determination and created their first chance with a free kick.

However, the ball went out of the net.

New Zealand quickly regrouped and within nine minutes of the game registered their first goal by Hannah Blake from a shot she calmly placed at the back of Tonga goal mouth.

A minute later Emma Main extended the lead with an easy goal she placed the ball at the back of the net after Mele Akolo of Tonga missed a cross along the ground.

Main increased her goal scoring by adding three goals after another to lead the game 5-0 at half time.

In the second half, New Zealand fielded in three fresh players Serena Murriphy for Elizabeth Anton, Emma Clarke for Serah Morton and Dayna Stevens for Samantha Tawharu to maintain their game position.

Likewise Tonga fielded Patricia Likiliki, Katalina Taliiauli, and Helen Tahitua to contain the Kiwi side but the Kiwi girls were too strong for them.

They kept firing into Tonga’s goal mouth and kept increasing their goal margin 9-0 from Deven Jackson, Michaela Foster, Grace Jale and an own goal from Tonga to end the game in favour of the Kiwi girls.
