Backstreet Boys confirm New Zealand concert in 2020

An announcement on their website on Thursday showed an Auckland gig slated for May. It was shared across social media before being pulled down.

On Friday morning, promoters confirmed the 90s pop stars will entertain New Zealand fans at Spark Arena on May 16 as part of their DNA World Tour.

The boy band was last here in 2015, where they performed to a sell-out crowd at (then-named) Vector Arena.

They'll also be making several stops in Australia, with concerts planned for Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Nick Carter from Backstreet Boys denies rape accusation

In a blog post published earlier this month, Melissa Schuman claimed Carter forced her into a sex act against her will and raped her when she was 18.

"He was relentless, refusing to take my nos for an answer," she alleged.

In a statement, Carter said Ms Schuman had "never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual".

"It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm," he went on.

Backstreet Boys share their secret to longevity

The sniffles emitting from A.J. McLean and Kevin Richardson echo a bit as a result.

They're fighting sinus infections. In fact, all of the Backstreet Boys are, Richardson said.

"I just had sinus surgery," McLean shared. "Now that I can breathe, it's awesome. But now I'm getting everything."

The nearly 5,000 fans that were in attendance a little less than 18 hours prior certainly didn't seem to notice.

Backstreet Boys announce Vegas residency

The group will present its Larger Than Life residency at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. It will consist of 18 dates, scheduled for March 1, 2017 to July 1, 2017.

"It's going to be an amazing, energetic, fun party show," band member Kevin Richardson said in a video announcing their effort.

Tickets go on sale Oct. 1, with some pre-sales happening as early as Sept. 26.

The band's residency had been rumored since April.

Backstreet Boys founder dies in prison aged 62

The Federal Bureau of Prisons said the disgraced businessman died on Friday, providing no other details — he was 62.

Inspired by the success of the boy band New Kids on the Block, Pearlman recruited a group of unknowns to form the Backstreet Boys, which soared to stardom in 1996, becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all-time.

The group sold more than 130 million records, its website says.

Some members of Pearlman's other bands, including Justin Timberlake of NSYNC and Britney Spears, went on to achieve major stardom with solo careers.

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter jailed after fight

Carter, 35, got into the altercation on Wednesday night (local time) after bartenders at the Hog's Breath Saloon refused to serve alcohol to him and a companion, and asked them to leave because they appeared to be "heavily intoxicated", according to an arrest report.

Carter punched one of the bouncers and Michael Papayans of California head-butted the bar manager, the report said.

Possible Spice Girls-Backstreet Boys tour

That's just one of the many mashups we would expect to hear when two ‘90s icons come together to make musical babies. And before you start calling us crazy and asking us if we need a ride back to the loony bin, you should know that a Backstreet Boys-Spice Girls tour might actually be a reality.

AJ McLean recently told Rolling Stone that the boyband has been flirting with the idea of touring with the girl group for a while now.

"The Spice Girls tour has been this idea bouncing around for the past year and a half, and it's something we're still talking about," he said.
