Obama urges fellow Democrats to fight for Obamacare

In a two-hour private meeting Mr Obama sought to rally members of his party, as Republicans took their first steps to dismantle his signature bill.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence was also at Congress, where he told his party they would replace Obamacare.

The law has extended health coverage to an estimated 20 million Americans.

But the 2010 Affordable Care Act law has been hit by soaring premium costs and major insurers withdrawing from the scheme, leaving Americans with fewer choices for coverage.

Hillary Clinton wins caucuses in American Samoa

The South Pacific island chain held its caucus Tuesday.

Clinton won 73 percent of 223 votes cast to earn four of the six delegates at stake. Bernie Sanders picked up two delegates.

American Samoa is one of five U.S. territories that cast votes in primaries and caucuses to decide the Democratic presidential nominee, even though those residents aren’t eligible to vote in the November general election.

The island chain has a population of 54,000

     

Clinton, Sanders try to woo American Samoans

In what's known as 'Super Tuesday', American Samoa joins 12 other states and territories in voting for their preferred Democratic party presidential candidate.

Party caucuses are the only time American Samoans can have a say in the selection of the United States president, as they cannot vote in the US general elections.

Our correspondent Fili Sagapolutele said while Bernie Sanders does have some strong support, Hillary Clinton has a successful history in the territory.

The question to Trump came Thursday night at a town hall in Rochester, New Hampshire. The first person the billionaire real estate mogul called on said, "We have a problem in this country. It's called Muslims."

Democrats urge Clinton to offer better explanation of emails

The Democratic front-runner's campaign has taken steps to defend her against allegations she may have put classified information at risk by using a private email account and server, arguing she never sent or received material considered classified at the time.

Democratic lawmakers said Clinton's campaign has not adequately explained the complicated nature of the email review and panned some of her attempts to use humor to talk about the probe.
