The Digicel Technical Manager, Lionel Tu’inukuafe, and his team welcomed forty Forms 3 and 4 students including teachers from Beulah College’s Computing and ICT Subject and took them for a tour of the Digicel Network Operations Centre.

“This is a very good opportunity for students to be exposed to the kind of work we do in the Technical Department and for our team to engage students who may be potential Digicel employees in the future,” said Lionel.

Digicel Tonga Acting CEO, Ragigia Dawai, said, “We are proud to support local sporting initiatives such as this in order to develop the culture of outrigger canoe activity in Tonga for community enhancement.”

Digicel sponsored the prizes for the 500m sprint race and for the 12km long distance race. Each competing canoe consisted of six paddlers.

The first of the Bledisloe Cup Tests will be played this Sunday at 4pm while the second is on Sunday 18th October also at 4pm, in what will be the first afternoon Bledisloe Cup Tests in recent history.

Semisi said his tops up his phone with $10 weekly to buy the $10 data plan which he uses for internet surfing and social media with his family. He finds the network reliable and when he travels around the island it works well for his needs to communicate with his family and friends. 

“I thank Digicel for this early Christmas gift for myself and my family –it’s very exciting for myself to win something like this,” said Siosaia who was the winner for the month of September’s lucky draw.

Siosaia, who is a student at Tupou College, visited the Digicel office together with his mother to receive his prize.

“Now our family won’t have to pay $100 a month but will enjoy the 40 channels especially the children to enjoy the cartoon and sports channels for an entire year –I’m very grateful to Digicel,” Siosaia’s mother said.

The announcement was made at ‘Ana Nau’s residence at Tofoa where the Digicel team led by the Acting CEO, Ms Ragigia Dawai, visited to meet ‘Ana and her family.

“I was at home today sick and was not able to work but I felt a lot better when I received the call from Digicel that I was a winner! And I didn’t know that it was $5000 cash until the Digicel staff arrived here at home,” ‘Ana said with delight.

“Wow! Today, was my turn to win with Digicel –thank you Digicel,” Fifita said.

“It had a strange feeling that it must be my lucky day when the call came from an unknown number today. I was with my children when I received the lucky call and when the caller said that I was the lucky winner for the top up promotion, we were all so happy and thankful,” she said.

Fifita would top up with $5 twice a week so that she can communicate with family and friends.

 “This is unbelievable,” he said with glee. “Every time I top up and buy a plan, I receive text messages saying that I have entries for a chance to win prizes, but I never thought that it would be today, that I’m now that winner. I told the caller from Digicel, ‘Yes absolutely! I’m coming to collect the prize.”

He expressed his gratitude to Digicel. “I feel that Digicel has rewarded me for all the top up and the buying of plans.” He said that the cash will go to his family shopping this weekend
