Digicel team visits ‘hidden treasures’ of Tonga

The team in their visit was able to see firsthand the incredible work that was being done there and the constant support provided to the children. 

 Mango Tree Centre was officially commissioned this very month in 2013 with a contribution of close to $200,000 from the Government of Japan.  The Centre was built to address the immediate needs of our country in a wide range of areas that had direct impact on communal and socio-economic activities of Tonga.  It is with that same need that 5 years to-date Digicel has continued to support Mango Tree every year.

Digicel Tonga announces final winner of Diaspora & Online Top Up Promotion

“My family didn’t believe me when I told them Digicel called me today (Monday) and told me (that) I’ve won $200 cash,” Kautai said.

This is the first time that Kautai has won a prize with Digicel.

According to Kautai, his family and friends overseas Top Up his handset online and half of it is used to buy data for the internet.

This week he received another $70 Top Up.

Digicel Tonga partners with NRL to launch its Primary School Health & Wellbeing TV Lessons

Attending the launch were the co-sponsors of the NRL Tonga Primary School TV programs; the New Zealand High Commissioner to Tonga, Tiffany Babington; Australian High Commissioner to Tonga,  Adrian Morrison and the Chairman of the Mai-e-5 Board, Minoru Nishi.

Representatives from the Tonga Health Promotion Foundation and the Ministry of Health were also present.

Mosa’ati’s, from the island of ‘Eua which is about an hour away by ferry from the main island of Tongatapu, was unable to receive his prize today but he nominated his sister, ‘Ana, who resides in Tongatapu to receive the award on his behalf.

“Thank you Digicel for continuing to help our people in many ways like today’s award,” Ana said.

Mosa’ati signed up with the Digicel’s home internet 30GB monthly plan three years ago and has continued to be a loyal customer since then.

Felanuaki won the $200 shopping voucher for mothers at the Molisi Save supermarket while Malia won the $200 shopping voucher for fathers at the Pacific Timber & Hardware.

Felanuaki said she was surprised and grateful for receiving the prize. She said that when I saw the 123 number calling me, she was not sure whether to answer because she had tried before with the Shake it cash call promotion and she was not lucky.

“But I decided to answer and what good news!” she said with a smile. She could not wait but drove over to the Digicel head office.

Sitiveni Takai wins $200 cash for Digicel Tonga’s Celebrate Family This May Diaspora & Online Top Up Promotion

“I was out working at the farm when I received the call that I had won this prize. I told the person on the phone that I’m coming over right away!” Sitiveni said with a broad smile on his face.

Sitiveni usually receives $60 a week on top up from his family in New Zealand.

He spends his top up on buying the 30GB data plans for his home internet use and regularly opts in to the $8 weekly Voice & SMS plan for local call and texts. He said he relies on the internet to do his research and to buy equipment for his farm.

Maletino thanked Digicel for his Fathers Day gift. He is the first winner for this promotion to take his family for dinner at the Little Italy Restaurant.

“This prize is very appropriate as we’re approaching Fathers Day this Sunday, and that my family and I could go out for dinner,” he said. “Eating out at restaurants can be expensive but with this gift we can go out and enjoy, and I’m thankful to Digicel for that,” he added. 

Digicel Tonga Celebrates its 12th Anniversary of Service

The staff joined the Friday 6.00am Prayer Service held at the Basilica of Saint Anthony of Padua in Nuku’alofa, where several staff members also took part in the church service. The Digicel Tonga CEO, Anthony Seuseu, also delivered a special address to the congregation where he highlighted the company’s contributions to the community.

“I know times are tough at the moment but it is at these times when we need to celebrate our past, we come together as a team and look to God for guidance,” Seuseu said.

Two mums win shopping vouchers in Digicel Tonga’s Celebrate Family This May promotion

Mailangi won the shopping voucher for mothers at the Molisi Save supermarket while Fili won the shopping voucher for fathers at the Pacific Timber & Hardware.

They are the first winners for this weekly promotion.

Mailangi said although this voucher means more to her, she knows her children will be very happy with this opportunity to shop for free at the Molisi Save supermarket. This is the first time that she has won a prize from Digicel.

“As a mother I really feel special to receive this gift and I’m grateful to Digicel,” she said.
