9 steps to help fight coronavirus spread

As world heads of government continue to grapple with the mounting challenges, Digicel is contributing to efforts to educate the public and stem the coronavirus spread.

COVID-19 is spread mainly person-to-person, through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

At present there is no vaccine, so the best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus.

Digicel hosts dinner for Special Olympics Team Tonga

Digicel Tonga is a proud sponsor of the Special Olympics Team Tonga.

Ragigia Dawai, Business to Consumer and Marketing Manager for Digicel Tonga said, “As we remain committed to the Kingdom and its people, we wish Team Tonga the very best of their upcoming events in the (Special Olympics) World Summer Games 2019.” 

The four athletes are Ane Tuiketei of Houma, Manatu Paletu’a of Fatai, Siaosi Palanite and Paula Tupou of Te’ekiu.

The other four members are officials.

The Special Olympics Tonga Team will be participating in shot-put, sprinter and walking.

Digicel appoints first Fijian as Regional CEO for Pacific

No stranger to Digicel, Ms Jannif served until recently as the Chief Financial Officer – Pacific Hub based in Suva.

Ms Jannif has been with Digicel, in key decision making roles for the past six years. She joined Digicel Fiji in December 2012 as the Manager Financial Planning, a post which she held for two and a half years and was then appointed Digicel Fiji’s Financial Controller in June 2015 before being appointed CFO – Hub Markets in January 2017.

Digicel supports Special Olympics Team Fiji with $100,000 cash sponsorship

Digicel is the major sponsor of Special Olympics Team Fiji.

Digicel Fiji CEO, Mike Greig while signing the official sponsorship agreement said, “This is an on-going partnership which stretches years back to support Special Olympics Fiji in major events and now we are stepping up to support the team to attend the World meet.”

Special Olympics Team Fiji will send its largest contingent to the world meet with 21 athletes in five sports, supported by 14 strong volunteer team of managers and support staff.

Digicel Tonga addresses connectivity issues

It’s been 8-days with the outage and Digicel Tonga continues to face data connectivity issues because of the major fibre cut in the submarine cable resulting in the unstable data services.   

Digicel wishes to advise all its customers that they can make International and Locals calls as well as send text messages both locally and international, however using data services will only allow you to use basic services such as browsing to stay connected with family and friends.

Digicel lends timely help to 50 HART children with back to school items

Digicel staff got together and contributed general school stationary items while Star Printery gave all the exercise books to the children.

Digicel Fiji CEO, Mike Greig made the presentation and met the children and encouraged them to do their best in school this year.

“This is an excellent gesture at the start of the year, I want to thank Digicel Fiji staff who took pride and made an effort to buy stationary and help some needy children in our community,” said Greig.

Digicel provides new telemedicine facility for Suva Children’s Hospital

Digicel Founder and Chairman, Denis O’Brien, who was in Fiji last week as part of a tour of Digicel’s Pacific markets, launched the new teleconference facility at the hospital in Suva.

Digicel worked in partnership with the International Women’s Association, a non-profit group to see this milestone project through.

The Digicel staff draped themselves in red Friday ecstatic to be able to support the country at this time.

Tonga engineers re-certified

Roan Gouws and Minandi von Ludwig, training facilitators are Directors of KN Training & Development and are in Tonga for the second visit. 

A total of 16 participants including 13 from Digicel and 3 from the Ministry of Infrastructure took part in the training. 

The training was both in classroom setting and field exercises and provided the participants with re-certification on two major components.
