Colombia's most wanted drug lord Otoniel captured, faces extradition to US

Dairo Antonio Úsuga, better known as Otoniel, was seized after a joint army, air force and police operation.

He led the country's largest criminal gang and has been on the US Drug Enforcement Agency's most wanted list for years.

US officials had placed a $5m (£3.6m) bounty on his head.

They accused him of importing at least 73 metric tonnes of cocaine into the country between 2003 and 2014.

Colombia's Defence Minister Diego Molano told El Tiempo newspaper that the next step for officials was to comply with the US extradition order.

Ning Shisheng, who has lived in Australia since 2010, was arrested on an Interpol warrant in April when the cruise he was on stopped on the Isle of Pines.

Judicial authorities in Noumea, who examined Beijing's extradition request, are in favour of complying with it.

Paul Harman is wanted in Washington alleged rape of an underage girl 13 years ago, but he fled the US.

He was arrested in American Samoa last month, and has been held in custody without bail while his attorney fought an extradition order.

According to American Samoa's High Court filings, an extradition request was filed from the US in October.

The governor of Washington state sent a written demand to his American Samoa counterpart to have Mr Harman sent back to the US to stand trial for the alleged crime.

However, Rocha's consent to a request by Nicaraguan authorities can only proceed with the approval of the United States, which also seeks his extradition.

Swiss justice department spokesman Folco Galli says it is "for the U.S. authorities to state whether or not they agree to Nicaragua being given priority."

If American officials refuse to let Rocha return home, the Swiss justice ministry will decide which extradition request to grant, Galli says in a statement.

"Unfortunately it was too late to apprehend the foreign poacher as he had already absconded to his country of origin," Oppah Muchinguri told a news conference. "We are appealing to the responsible authorities for his extradition to Zimbabwe so that he be made accountable."
