Body of warrior in Tonga’s war on methamphetamine arrives in Auckland

Dozens gathered at Vaiola Hospital in the morning including Mark Santos from the New Zealand High Commission’s office in Nuku’alofa to farewell the deceased.

Mr Cook, 67, died on Sunday after being allegedly assaulted on Friday night on the outskirts of Nuku’alofa.

According to a Kaniva News report, Police said the accused, who was arrested on Sunday, remains in custody.

The Ma’ufanga teen has not been named and is due to appear in court on Monday.

Homicide victim buried, no arrests yet

There have been no arrests made after the burial service in Talafoʻou on Friday.

The post-mortem examination on Kevini Maka’s body was completed before it had been released back to his family on Thursday, a Police spokesperson said.

As Kaniva News reported Acting Police Superintendent Tevita Vailea said they had enough information to launch the investigation while Police were still awaiting an autopsy report.
