James Slipper

Slipper to captain Wallabies

Hooper has been ruled out after suffering a "mid-foot" sprain in the defeat by England.

It is the second time that the front rower will take charge of the Wallabies after captaining the team in a test against the United States before the 2015 World Cup. He was then the first prop in almost 40 years to captain Australia.

Slipper made his test debut in 2010 and has since won 110 caps for Australia.

Veteran prop James Slipper re-signs with Australia for two more years

The 96-Test star moved to Canberra at the end of 2018 and has since featured in every Super Rugby game for the Brumbies over his two seasons at the club.

Slipper made his debut for the Wallabies in 2010 against England in Perth and is now just four Tests shy of becoming Australia’s 11th Test centurion.

Wallabies prop James Slipper said: “I couldn’t be happier to be staying in Canberra for the next couple of years.”

“The club gave me an opportunity back in 2018 and I want to repay that show of faith by continuing to work hard and play well for the Brumbies.

James Slipper returns from drugs ban

Slipper has been named in a Super Rugby select XV to take on the Wallabies in a pre-Rugby Championship trial game.

The 29-year-old Queensland Red, who has won 86 caps for the Wallabies, will play his first game since testing positive to cocaine for a second time in May, which resulted in him being banned for two months and fined 30 thousand dollars.

When his ban was announced, Slipper revealed that he had been battling depression after suffering a season-ending injury last year and while coping with the illness of a family member.
