John Legend and Chrissy Teigen give their kids an early lesson in citizenship

Legend's wife, Chrissy Teigen, and their young children appeared on stage together briefly.

"I want to send a shoutout -- actually, can you come onstage, baby?" he asked. "I want you guys to see, my wife is here. My daughter, Luna, is here. My son, Miles, is here. We're teaching our young people early to participate in their democracy."

This was the first public appearance Teigen had made since the recent loss of their son, Jack.

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before," she wrote in a moving Instagram statement.

Her post was accompanied by several black and white photos, including one of her crying in her hospital bed.

Model Teigen and singer Legend have two children, and in mid-August revealed they were expecting a third.

In her latest post, Teigen revealed the Los Angeles-based couple had been planning to call the baby Jack.

The Grammy-winning singer known for his silky-smooth vocals was revealed as this year's winner today on television programme The Voice. He serves as a coach on the singing competition series with Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton.

Shelton, who was named Sexiest Man Alive in 2017, announced Legend's honour on The Voice. The country singer then handed Legend some short shorts with bedazzled letters "EGOTSMA" to signify the singer's many honours: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony and now, Sexiest Man Alive.

The singer made the revelation during a recent interview with The Guardian.

Legend and Teigen met in 2007, when the model was cast as the love interest in the music video for his song "Stereo."

"We spent the whole day dancing together, grinding together," he said. "And, uh, we made a music video."

They became a couple and have been together for more than a decade other than, Legend told the publication, an attempted breakup that lasted only half an hour.

The 10-time Grammy winner tweeted that he was about to get off the Eurostar from Paris.

Within 20 minutes his post had drawn a big crowd who got to hear an eight-minute performance, including Ordinary People.

Afterwards Legend didn't have time for fan selfies as he was escorted away to an unknown location.

Newspaper reporters and other media weren't far behind.

His PR team were ready and poised.

And fans who got down there in time were pretty pleased.

The video is being released ahead of next week's Battle Rounds.

The rapper visited Trump Tower earlier this week. Mr Trump said they had discussed "life".

Legend, a close friend of West, told French media outlet Clique the pair's meeting was "disappointing".

"I don't think it's impossible to talk to [Trump] about issues, but I won't be used as a publicity stunt. I think Kanye was a publicity stunt," he said.

Legend was mentored by West at the beginning of his career, and has collaborated with the rapper and producer several times.

The couple announced the birth of their first child on social media Sunday. Their daughter was born Thursday.

"She's here! Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy," Teigen wrote on Instagram, posting a photo of a sign announcing the baby's weight of 6lb 11oz.
