Duchess of Cambridge to read CBeebies Bedtime Story

The Duchess has chosen to read childhood classic The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson.

It follows the story of Plop, a baby owl, who is helped by others to grow in confidence and overcome his fears.

The Duchess's reading will air at 6.50pm on 13 February. She will be the first royal to read a CBeebies story.

Children's Mental Health week runs from 7 to 14 February and the duchess chose the book because it chimed with this year's theme of "growing together".

Royals snubbed by indigenous leader

Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, president of the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs, was due to join the couple on stage during the 10th anniversary celebrations at the University of British Columbia on Tuesday, but pulled out that morning.

The residence was transformed into a children's paradise, which included a petting zoo and miniature ponies.

The play day was on day six of the Cambridges' eight-day tour of Canada.

It is the first official trip all four of the family have been on together.

Prince William and Kate building new tennis court at Anmer Hall

The new tennis court will replace the previous, dilapidated court, but will be moved 36 feet further away from the house to "improve the views," according to the planning application's design statement submitted by the Sandringham Estate Office.

The process will require the cutting of 10 trees, but several more will be planted in replacement, and the project will not use public funds.

The update makes sense as Kate and Will are both tennis players and avid fans of the sport.
