Tonga Competent Authority announces new LPG prices for March

Tonga Competent Authority (TCA) has approved the new LPG prices for March 2019 to be effective from Monday, 18 March 2019.

A statement from the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development said Saudi CP Butane prices continue to fall this quarter although prices rebounded in February.

A slow start of the Northern Hemisphere winter heating demand and increasing LPG production from US shale oil and gas have put downward pressure on LPG prices.

Another major factor affecting LPG prices is the reducing crude oil.

Tongatapu, Vava’u consumers pay more for LPG products

The retail price of LPG in Tongatapu has increased by 0.13 seniti/kg to a new price of $3.55 per kg.

Consumers on Vava’u will be paying a new rate of $3.60 per kg for LPG.

A statement from the Ministry of Commerce, Consumer, Trade, Innovation and Labour says the increase for Vava’u is smaller than Tongatapu due to receiving a parcel when the prices were still below US$400/tonne.

The price change is said to be based on the published monthly Saudi Contract Price for cargoes discharged in September, October and November.
