Digicel supports Tonga’s Miss Galaxy Pageant

The theme for the event this year is "Fragrances of different Communities".

The pageant has created a lot of excitement with the Miss Galaxy week kicking off with the Ari’I Oe Hau mixed netball tournament.

There will also be ongoing tests for HIV AIDS as well as two judging events on 17 and 18 July at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.

The Miss Galaxy Pageant is one of the most popular events of the social calendar in Tonga.

Miss Vaheloto, Kaina Henderson crowned Tonga’s Miss Galaxy

Henderson was one of the 12 contestants for the annual pageant which celebrates creativity and diversity amongst Tonga’s LGBT fakaleiti community.

During the week-long event, contestants participated in a public judging, paid courtesy calls at various institutions and luncheons.

On the final night, they were judged on 3 final categories including galaxy wear, own talent and evening gown.

Early last week, children admitted at the Vaiola Hospital were treated to a special day with the contestants who donated $1000 TOP to the ward.

Tonga’s Miss Galaxy Pageant celebrates 25th anniversary

This year is the 25th anniversary of the pageant that celebrates the creativity, diversity and talent of LGBT Fakaleiti communities in Tonga

The pageant gets underway at Little India in Nuku’alofa on 6 July.

A private judging, church service, luncheon are some of the events that have been planned.

Netball sporting activities are also part of the programme to help promote healthy lifestyle of the LGBT community.

The theme of the pageant is "Minority Group is a priority when it comes to Climate Change"

Miss Galaxy Queen Pageant ends on a high note

The pageant is an annual event organised by the Tonga Leiti Association to highlight the contribution of the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and intersex community (LGBTI) in Tonga.

Ten contestants pitted their skills in dancing and creative wear over a week for the highly sought after title.

Miss Finau won the Red Theme Creation and was placed 2nd runner up on her Own Talent, winner of Own Creation and 1st prize in the International Wear.

The 23 year old from Kolonga was confident and presented uniqueness in every sense of the word.

Tonga’s Miss Galaxy Pageant kicks off with outreach programme

The ten contestants entertained and greeted members of Alonga Centre which is caters for persons with disabilities.

They also visited Hu’atolitoli Prison where officials thanked the association for organising the outreach programme and urged it to continue in the future.

The Miss Galaxy Pageant begins today and ends on July 14.

The theme for this year’s pageant is “the Beauty of Oneness.”

During the pageant, the contestants will raise awareness about domestic violence against women and the Leitis community in Tonga.
