Atlanta suspect charged with murder as victims identified

Officials cannot yet confirm if the attack, in which six Asian women were killed, was racially motivated. Four victims were named on Wednesday.

The suspect faces multiple counts of murder as well as aggravated assault.

Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds said the suspect may have been a patron and claimed to have a "sex addiction".

The attack comes amid a sharp uptick in crimes against Asian-Americans.

Tongan seasonal worker charged with murder over Vanuatu man’s death in Australia

Manu Vi, 25, faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday by video link, and has yet to plead to one count of murder, the Queensland Times online has reported.

According to a Kaniva News report the charge arises from an incident at Paringa, 260km north east of Adelaide, on August 2.

Vi was originally charged with manslaughter after his alleged victim, a 29-year-old Vanuatu national, did not show up for work the day after the incident.

The Vanuatu man was found unresponsive in his cabin that night and rushed to hospital, but died two days later.

US policeman faces murder charge related to Rayshard Brook’s death

Garrett Rolfe, who has already been fired, faces 11 charges related to Rayshard Brooks' death. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

The other officer who was at the scene, Devin Brosnan, plans to testify as a witness in the case, officials said.

The case comes amid US protests over police killings of black Americans.

Lawmakers in Washington are currently debating new police reform laws.

Officer Brosnan - who has already been placed on administrative leave - will be charged with assault for standing on Mr Brooks' shoulder as he lay dying.

PNG fisherman held in Majuro on murder charge

The Marshall Islands Attorney General's office filed single counts of murder and manslaughter against Augustine Luvutul, 29, a fisherman onboard the purse seiner Ocean Expedition, a United States-flagged purse seiner.

The charges were filed in the High Court December 27.

The charges were filed by Assistant Attorney General Meuton Laiden four days after the December 23 death of Aaron Ionikara, a fisherman from Kiribati who worked on the same purse seiner as Mr Luvutul.

Mr Luvutul is being represented by Chief Public Defender Russell Kun.

Sydney court refuses Sosiua Tonga bail on murder charge

Sosiua Tonga, 34, allegedly assaulted another 34-year-old man early on Sunday morning at an Eastern Creek house, resulting in a serious head injury

7News reports the injured man was taken to Westmead Hospital but died shortly after.

Tonga, who was arrested at the scene, was refused bail on murder charges.

On Monday, Tonga made no application for bail and it was formally refused during brief mention in Mount Druitt Local Court.

Tonga allegedly attacked the victim after he caught him at his girlfriend's home.

India happiness minister sought as murder suspect in Madhya Pradesh

They are hunting Lal Singh Arya, 53, who has been missing since Tuesday when a court ordered his arrest.

He is a suspect in the murder of an opposition politician in 2009 and has previously denied the charges.

Madhya Pradesh is the first and only state to have a department of happiness to boost the wellbeing of citizens.

Life sentence possible for Mangere man in court over daughter’s death

In June last year Tania Shailer and David Haerewa were jailed for 17 years for the manslaughter of three years-old Moko Rangitoheriri.

Gustav Otto Sanft, who is of Tongan descent, appeared in the High Court yesterday following the death of his two years-old daughter in a shooting incident.

Kaniva News reports Sanft appeared before Mr Justice Geoffrey Venning.

The trial is expected to last three weeks.

Extradition to Tonga of wanted yachtie still being considered

Matangi Tonga reported Mr Fletcher had asked for a stay of extradition possibly on humanitarian grounds.

Mr Fletcher, who is an American citizen, escaped police custody in Vava'u last year and fled to American Samoa on his yacht the Sea Oak.

Tonga's Acting Attorney General 'Aminiasi Kefu told Matangi Tonga that Fletcher had made submissions to the US Secretary of State before the deadline of April 1st.

He said Tonga's prosecutors would have to wait until the US Secretary of State made the final decision on whether or not to extradite Mr Fletcher back to Tonga.

Tongan man extradited to Australia to face murder charge

Kaniva news reports Alani Afu, 49, also known as Alani Koloamatangi was extradited from the kingdom yesterday over the stabbing murder of the Sydney woman.

He will appear in court on Tuesday for the first day of the committal hearing against his co-accused, the late Ms Caleo’s husband Mark Caleo and his brother Gerard Caleo.

One of his sisters has accompanied him from Tonga and sat in the back of the court today as her brother appeared via videolink from Surry Hills Correctional Centre, Telegraph reported.

Jo Cox MP death: Thomas Mair in court on murder charge

Thomas Mair gave his name as "Death to traitors, freedom for Britain", when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

Mrs Cox, 41, was shot and stabbed in Birstall, West Yorkshire, on Thursday.

Members of her family visited the scene on Saturday to read floral tributes and thank gathered crowds for their support.

Speaking in the village's market square Kim Leadbeater, Mrs Cox's sister, described the MP as "perfect".
