Nicole Kidman reportedly enters Hong Kong quarantine-free

The Australian actress's arrival in Hong Kong has sparked widespread anger after she was reportedly spotted out and about two days after touching down.

This is despite the region having some of the strictest rules in place, with up to 21 days' quarantine required.

There has been no direct, official comment on a possible exemption.

The Australian actress, 52, made a brief appearance at a pre-Golden Globes event in Los Angeles on Saturday (US time), looking visibly upset.

Kidman's representative told Us Magazine that the couple are "keeping a close eye" on their rural property, which is "under threat" from the NSW wildfires. 

The Oscar winner refused red carpet interviews, saying she was "so distracted".

"I'm so sorry. I'm so distracted right now with everything that's happening in Australia," she apologised, according to attendees.

The star told a Cannes press conference she likes to make "bold" choices, as if she were at the start of her career.

Kidman said while she doesn't have to work, she does so because of her passion for cinema.

The star of The Killing of the Sacred Deer, in competition at Cannes, said her young children will be banned from seeing the dark psychological thriller.

Kidman has two grown-up children from her marriage to Tom Cruise and two younger daughters with her current husband singer Keith Urban.

Australian radio presenter Kyle Sandilands said to the actress: "I told everyone you were clapping like that because you had the rings on and you didn't want to damage the rings."

"You are so right Kyle," she replied.

"It was really difficult because I had a huge ring on which was not my own, but was absolutely gorgeous and I was terrified of damaging it."

Kidman adopted two children with ex-husband Tom Cruise and has two biological children with husband Keith Urban. She told CNN that her desire to have a family stemmed from her own "maternal instincts," which have been a "driving force" in her life since she was a young girl.

"I think because I've experienced motherhood in so many different ways," she said. "I've experienced adoption, birthing a child and I've experienced surrogacy. I'm like when it comes to it, I just wanna be a mama."

The 23-year-old told the latest issue of New Idea magazine that despite removing herself from the celebrity world that her A-list parents are a part of and setting up home in London with British husband, Max Parker, 29, she maintains a relationship with them.
