Fury survives huge scare to beat Wallin

Fury successfully defended his lineal heavyweight title, but only after surviving a huge scare from his Swedish opponent.

The Brit was cut badly above his right eye in the third round and had to deal with a bloody face for long periods, but his aggression – particularly in the second half of the fight – paid off.

Judges scored it 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112 in Fury's favour as he improved to 29-0-1 and handed Wallin (20-1) his first defeat.

Fury to fight Wallin in Las Vega

Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti revealed earlier this month that an agreement had been reached for the former world heavyweight champion to step into the ring with the 28-year-old Wallin.

It was confirmed on Tuesday that unbeaten Swede Wallin (20-0) will get a chance to claim the Briton's lineal title in Nevada next month.

Fury brutally knocked Tom Schwarz out at the same venue in June and will be a strong favourite to add another victory to his record, which shows 28 wins and a draw.
