Resurgent Pakistan stun England

The ICC Champions Trophy holders were embarrassingly bounced out for 105 in a seven-wicket win for West Indies in their first game of the tournament but showed what they are capable of at the same venue three days later.

Mohammad Hafeez top scored with 84 from only 62 balls after Jason Roy dropped him on 14, which summed up a characteristically below-par showing from the hosts in the field as Pakistan posted 348-8.

Pakistan cruise to series whitewash over Australia

Having dominated throughout Australia's tour of the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan inflicted more misery on Aaron Finch's side to complete a 3-0 success with five balls to spare.

Babar Azam starred again at the top of the order with his second half century of the series as Pakistan made a superb start under the lights, the hosts racing to 93-0 in the 13th over.

Babar's 50 came off just 40 balls and included a superbly executed upper cut for six off Nathan Coulter-Nile, the bowler only able to watch on as the ball sailed over the third-man boundary.

Pakistan Zainab murder: DNA suggests suspect in other case was 'innocent

Police shot Mudasir, accused of killing five-year-old Iman Fatima, in February 2017, saying he tried to escape.

However, a BBC Newsnight investigation has uncovered allegations that Iman's real killer is still at large.

DNA tests suggest Iman was killed by the same man suspected of murdering another child this month.

The rape and murder of six-year-old Zainab Ansari earlier this month sparked outrage and protests across Pakistan.

Girl, 16, paraded naked in Pakistan after 'honour' row

Local residents say the woman was targeted because of her brother's long-forgotten secret affair with a woman from the assailants' family.

The incident, which came to light on Thursday when the media got wind of it, took place last week near the remote town of Chaudhwan, some 80km (50 miles) west of Dera Ismail Khan city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Police have arrested eight men and are searching for a ninth.

Witnesses say the girl was attacked in broad daylight when she went to fetch water from a pond.

Pakistani village council orders 'revenge rape' of 16-year-old girl

The country's Supreme Court also requested a report on the case, which echoed a notorious case from 2002 in which another teenager was gang-raped on a local council's order.

"A total of 29 people were involved in this ghastly crime, and we have 25 of them in our custody," Multan City police officer Ahsan Younus said on Thursday.

Earlier this month, a local council in the southern city of Multan was called after a family accused a 16-year-old boy of raping a 13-year-old neighbour.

Pakistan launches offensive against IS near Afghan border

A spokesman said militants had gained ground inside Afghanistan and had to be stopped from extending their influence.

He said the "Khyber 4" operation, backed by the air force, would focus on the mountainous Rajgal Valley area in Khyber Agency.

Pakistan has previously denied the presence of IS on its territory.

However, the growth of the group - often referred to as Daesh - in neighbouring Afghanistan has alarmed Islamabad and the group has claimed several attacks in Pakistan over the past two years.

UN court orders Pakistan not to execute Indian 'spy'

India has argued in the International Court of Justice that Pakistan violated international laws by not allowing it access to Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav.

Mr Jadhav was arrested in Balochistan in March 2016 and convicted last month.

India denies Mr Jadhav is a spy, and Pakistan denies kidnapping him.

Sitting in The Hague, the court rejected Pakistan's argument that it did not have jurisdiction over the case, and said it would hear the case and seek arguments from both sides.

India to launch satellite ... without Pakistan

The South Asia satellite, funded entirely by India, was announced several years ago with the intention of serving all eight members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

According to Uday Bhaskar, director of Delhi-based think tank the Society for Policy Studies, the satellite represents a "new form of regional cooperation," and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called it a "gift to the SAARC region."
