Brazilian cyclist Kleber da Silva Ramos and Chinese Wimmer Chen Xinyi have been disqualified from Rio 2016 following positive doping tests.

Da Silva Ramos did not finish the men's road race, but tested positive for EPO and accepted a provisional suspension without requesting a hearing.

Ryan Lochte and his fellow American swimmers "were not victims of the criminal actions they claim they were", according to police in Rio de Janeiro.

Lochte – along with James Feigen, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger – claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint after leaving a party on Sunday.

"You're kidding me?" state news agency Xinhua wrote (in a now-deleted post) on its official Twitter feed.

"The country which has never finished above China, is about to."
