New Zealand assists with procedures to process RSE workers

CEO of Internal Affairs, ‘Ana Bing Fonua said the assistance will facilitate procedures for selecting appropriate candidates for the Recognised Seasonal Employment (RSE) programme.

Radio Tonga reports it includes reviewing the core functions of the offices in charge of collaboration with the town offices to identify eligible candidates for the RSE programme.

"The main focus area for this plan first is the policy, in the absence of the Labor policy for Tonga that was made in the last 10 years. It is extremely important that the policies are put in place.

Search continues for Tongan RSE worker who absconds from airport

Manuofetoa was hired under the Recognised Seasonal Employment (RSE) programme to work on an orchard in Hastings.

He failed to make it to Hastings when he arrived in New Zealand last month.

Kaniva News reports Manuofetao has now been declared an overstayer and if he is caught he will be deported to Tonga.

Manuofetoa’s disappearance as well as that of 15 other Tongan seasonal workers is of grave concern to Tongan authorities.
