A few of the actors in ABC's remake of the beloved 1987 film are sharing some scenes from the project on Instagram.

Abigail Breslin and Colt Prattes have taken on the roles of Frances "Baby" Houseman and Johnny Castlee originally made famous by Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in the hit film.

Breslin posted photos of her and Prattes dancing in character.

"Casually dancing around a fireplace, as one does," she wrote in a caption. "AND just casually dippin' around a fireplace. As one also does. #sneakpeek #dirtydancing."

The network has announced separate awards for best actor and actress will be replaced by "non-gendered" prizes.

It means Emma Watson competes with Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy for best actor in a movie.

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones go against The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan for best actor in a show.

Most of the big award ceremonies, like the Oscars and Baftas, still have separate categories for men and women.

But when you're playing the part of a woman who dabs makeup on bruises inflicted by the man she loves, incongruity is also apt.

Kidman has told reporters that immersing herself in the character of a woman married to an abusive, violent, controlling man was a gruelling one.

Where the series gradually became crazier with each passing season, the new version basically kicks off in wacky, crazy, off-the-rails mode, with much of the action set in a Yemeni prison and dodging ISIS fighters part of the obstacle course. The nostalgia of seeing everyone back together thus quickly dissipates, and it becomes increasingly difficult to check one's brain at the cell door.

In the case of the Scottish series "Eden," that's exactly what happened.

According to the Guardian, 23 contestants entered into the wilds of the Scottish Highlands last March to live for a year, completely cut off from modern society.

By the end of the "social experiment," only 10 contestants remained. But "Eden" producers neglected to tell the participants the show was canceled in August, after only four episodes.

That's according to the animated film's producer Peter Del Vecho, who says they completely re-wrote the ending.

"When we started off, Anna and Elsa were not sisters," he told EW.

"They weren't even royal. So Anna was not a princess. Elsa was a self-proclaimed Snow Queen, but she was a villain and pure evil - much more like the Hans Christian Andersen tale."

Based on a popular picture book, the basic idea could hardly be more universal: life is going along just swimmingly for 7 ½-year-old Tim (voiced by Miles Bakshi), until his parents (Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy Kimmel) inform him that he's about to have a baby brother.

Because a grown-up Tim (Tobey Maguire) narrates the story, a bit of hyperbole is reasonable, like his recollection of the baby (Alec Baldwin, in an inspired casting stroke) motoring up to the driveway in a cab, already wearing a little suit and tie.

Tatyana M. Ali, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Will Smith, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Joseph Marcell appear in a picture that was posted Monday night to Ribeiro's Instagram account.

The brief reunion of the surviving cast is just the latest morsel to stoke fans' hopes that there will be some type of follow-up to the hit 1990s sitcom.

"Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family," Ribeiro wrote in the photo caption. "Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete."

Lukas Jakobiak then went even further, hiring an entire crew and filming with an Ellen lookalike.

He did this hoping to get the star's attention and has started #LucasOnEllen.

The video of the project has had more than one million views since going online.

If you squint and stand about 20 metres back from your screen, you could almost think you were watching the real thing.

During the "show", he chats about meeting Lady Gaga and Anastacia and there's a slightly creepy moment where he shares a photo of himself posing next to a wax model of the talk-show host.

The comedian and Trainwreck star was attached to appear in the famous toy's live-action debut - but has now pulled out, saying she's just too darn busy.

"Sadly, I'm no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts," the actress told Variety.

"I'm bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen." No replacement has been announced for the film, which is due out next summer.
