Cyber Bullying - A global concern for young people nowadays

Ben Kealy, CEO, Digicel Tonga presented to young girls at Football Association yesterday on 'Cyber Bullying' - a global concern for young people nowadays.

Nearly 43% of kids globally have been bullied online.

In fact, 1 in 4 has had it happen more than once. 70% of students reported seeing frequent bullying online.

Over 80% of teens around the world use a cell phone regularly, making it the most common medium for cyber bullying.

90% of teens who have seen social-media bullying say they have ignored it. 84% have seen others tell cyber bullies to stop and only 1 in 10 victims will inform a parent or trusted adult of their abuse.

Girls are about twice as likely as boys to be victims and perpetrators of cyber bullying.

The message to these young girls was clear and that is to tell a trusted adult about the bullying, and keep telling until you find someone who takes action.

It was an educational session and one that was organized and supported by Talitha Project.
