Digicel Tonga has thrown its support behind the Pink Fun Run, Fun Shake, Fun Walk as part of Tonga Breast Cancer Society’s efforts to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Digicel has provided merchandise as prizes for the event, which will be held on Saturday.
The items were presented by Digicel Tonga Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Seuseu to Tonga Breast Cancer Society’s President, Frederica ‘o Lapaha Filipe.
Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in Tonga.
Vaiola Hospital sees 40 new breast cancer patients each year, but very few cases are detected early enough, before the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
The month of October is designated Pinktober to support work around breast cancer awareness especially encouraging women to use the early detection facilities that are available at the hospital.
