Father of toddler killed in US shooting

A Tongan man has been shot and killed in South Los Angeles just two days away from his 22nd birthday

Maama has left behind a 20-month old daughter, sister and his parents, according to a relative who has started a Memorial Fund for him.

Police in South LA said Maama was shot near in a marijuana dispensary in the early hours of Wednesday, July 19.

ABC 7 reports there was gunfire during a possible attempted robbery of the pot shop.

One person was killed and several people were wounded.

No arrests have been made and a description of the shooter is not available

“It's every families worst nightmare to lose a loved one and as of July 19, my grand-baby will grow up without a father due to a senseless act of violence in the workplace. Sifa Fa was an unarmed security guard,” the relative wrote on GoFundMe. 

“I am writing this on behalf of my grandchild’s family who needs help with burial/memorial expenses. This was so unexpected.” 

Maama was described as a star kicker throughout his high school years up to the year 2014 for the Serra Football team.

He was also an exceptional rugby player and very athletic.
