Tonga police confirm NZ investigation into PM death threat

Tonga's Police Commissioner has confirmed New Zealand Police are investigating a death threat against the Prime Minister.

It comes after the chair of the Tonga Advisory Council, Melino Maka, laid a criminal complaint over an online threat against Pohiva Tu'i'onetoa.

Commissioner Stephen Caldwell said Tongan police recently added more staff to a unit monitoring cyber crime and there are several investigations underway.

He said he was grateful to New Zealand police for investigating the death threat.
