Anne Hathaway: 'There's no shame' in not losing post pregnancy weight

Anne Hathaway wants mothers to love their bodies.

The 33-year-old actress took to Instagram on Monday to encourage new mothers to embrace their new curves.

"Love what you have been given." she wrote alongside a picture of her jeans. "There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever). There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all). There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer's are just too dang short for this summer's thighs. Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It's all love (don't let anyone tell you otherwise)."

This isn't the first time that the Oscar-winner has spoken out about the pressure to get back into shape post-baby. She told Ellen DeGeneres that someone stopped her at the gym and pointed out that she must be trying to "lose the baby weight" to which she replied, "No, it's a little bit too soon to worry about weight. I'm just trying to regain my strength. He said, 'Great' and walked away and I cried a little bit."

Hathaway and her husband welcomed their first child -- a baby boy -- in March.
