Aussie Rugby League team wins second match

A confederated New South Wales Queensland Rugby League team completed their tour of Tonga with a narrow victory over the Mate Ma’a Tonga 19-18 at Teufaiva on Saturday, 26 September.

The game was the second by the visitors during their short visit to Tonga. In their first game against a Tonga A team on Thursday, they completely demolished the local team 64-14.

The local Rugby League officials were not very happy with the outcome, with the visitors winning both of their games. The annual visit to Tonga by a selected Australian rugby league team is an effort to raise the standard of Rugby League in the country.

According to Tongan Rugby League officials this year is the first time in the three years program for an Australian selected team to have won all their games.

The locally selected Mate Ma’a Tonga team were : Viliami Finaulahi, ‘Ofa Tesina, Taniela, Vaha’i, Timote Paseka, Lekini Lokosuka, Lokingi Mavae, ‘Unaloto Fe’ao, Sydney Havea, Sepuloni Makaafi, Pita Vaka’utakakala, Vilami Tupou, Bruce Folau, Solomone Lavaka, Vaha’i Nau, Leiataua Kilifi, Sosefo Suluka, Soane Ta’ai, Museni Takataka, Tevita ‘Okati, Melino Hufanga.
