Education Ministry to hold national consultation on new marking system

Tonga’s Legislative Assembly has approved a proposal from the Prime Minister to hold a public consultation for Education Ministry officials to clarify issues over the new marking system known as ‘standardisation’.

Radio Tonga reports Mr ‘Akilisi Pōhiva, who is also Minister of Education and Training, had proposed a national consultation following concerns about standardisation.

During deliberations, Lord Tu’iha’angana – Number One Noble Representative of Ha’apai said if the plan will go ahead, Radical Educationists and their supporters must be invited to join the meeting.

Following the new move, the Education supporters submitted a petition to His Majesty.

The national consultation will be conducted at the Kalofiama of Epworth Hall on Thursday next week.
