Fiji outclassed by NZ in futsal opener

The Fiji national futsal team have been thrashed 8-0 by New Zealand in the opening match of the Trans Pacific Cup in Auckland last night.

The Fijians managed to keep the hosts at until the final minute of the first half, when Kareem Osman broke the deadlock from the penalty spot.

Futsal Whites captain Marvin Eakins doubled the advantage two minutes into the second spell and New Zealand added another six goals to complete an emphatic victory.

The teams meet again tonight and on Friday, while Fiji will also play friendly matches against Waikato Bay of Plenty, Auckland Futsal Federation and FC Ferrand from New Caledonia.
