Vanuatu women get hockey bronze

The Vanuatu women's hockey team have claimed Bronze after beating Tonga 6-2 this morning.

While there was opportunity for more goals for Vanuatu, Tongan goal keeper Mateaki Taufa was her side’s saving grace, keeping a vigilant watch at the goal mouth and holding Vanuatu to a 4 point win.

Both sides drew one all after the first period.

In the second and third, Vanuatu belted in 5 goals and Tonga managed 1.

Although trailing in the match, Tongan supporters entertained the crowd dancing and cheering on their girls.

The men's Bronze play off is now underway and team PNG is under pressure to make that game count and register a medal for PNG.

PNG is playing Solomon Islands after beating Tonga yesterday.
