Carter caught drink driving - reports

The former All Black Dan Carter has allegedy been caught drink driving in Paris, French media report.

The French newspaper L'Equipe has confirmed a story by the magazine Closer, that Carter was stopped late Wednesday night by Police in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.

The report said Carter wasn't carrying his driver's licence and had a blood alcohol concentration of .98 grams per litre when the limit was .5 grams per litre.

Carter wasn't held in custody and will be summoned to court for trial.

Carter joined French club Racing 92 following the All Blacks' victory at the 2015 World Cup.

The 34-year-old played 112 times for the All Blacks over a 12-year period.

He claimed the Comeback of the Year title at the Laureus Sports Awards for his efforts at the 2015 World Cup.
