Super rugby's leading try scorer dumped from Hurricanes

He might be the super rugby's leading try scorer but it hasn't saved Ben Lam from being dropped from the Hurricanes for this weekend's match against the Blues in Wellington.

After three straight losses which threatens to derail their season coach Chris Boyd has made nine changes to the starting lineup, both personal wise and positionally, which lost to the Queensland Reds last round.

Lam has scored 14 tries this season, the most in the competition, but Boyd was unimpressed with attacking work of fullback Nehe Milner-Skudder and winger Ben Lam and Julian Savea.

"I thought all the back three were pretty average (against the Brumbies). ...so we have decided to give Wes Goosen a chance (at centre) and move Jordie (Barret from centre) into the back.

"It could have been anyone of the back three to go but in the end Ben Lam drops to the bench and life goes on."

Also out is prop Jeff To'omaga-Allen who drops to the reserves bench with Ben May starting at tighthead prop.

Both of last week's reserve props, Chris Eves and Marcel Renata, are out while Vaea Fifita's return from concussion sees Michael Fatialofa shift to the reserves.
