Tonga target Georgia

The Tongan rugby side worked on their strengths as they set their game plan that will contain Georgia in Suva, Fiji on Saturday.

Tongan manager Inoke Afeaki said that this is one of their aims as they prepare for next year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan.

“This is one of our campaigns and that is to beat Georgia as we build-up for the World Cup next year,” Afeaki told SUNsports.

“We’ve set our goals despite the fact that we are still grooming our team to be competitive against the top teams.

“We had a good preparation we started with the management group where we held a workshop in Auckland for four days.

“The players began to arrive from the different countries that they have settled in and as of now they are ready to get into the field.”

Afeaki pointed out that they have brought in their best players to play in the PNC.

The side will feature players like Siale Piutau, Leva Fifita and Ben Tameifuna.

“We’ve a lot of international players in the team that will be playing.

“I wouldn’t say they are famous but they are standard names in terms of professional rugby.

“We’ve a big respect for Georgia who are ranked one higher than us in the world rankings.

“They are very disciplined, aggressive and are very strong in the scrums.”
