Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury retired, again?

Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury appears to have announced his retirement from boxing, again.

Englishman Fury posted a message on social media on Wednesday (Thursday NZ time) which indicated he had fought for the last time.

"Been very blessed in my life & career achieve the upmost in boxing, was an epic journey along the way. Thanks to all the fans that supported & believed in me along the way. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. THE END," Fury said on Instagram.

Fury defeated former heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko in November, 2015 and claimed the WBA, WBO and IBF titles in the process.

But battles with drug and mental health issues meant he has not stepped into the ring since and he vacated the WBA and WBO titles in October last year, the latter belt since won by Kiwi Joseph Parker.

In the same month, Fury declared he had retired before later saying the announcement was a prank.

"You think you will get rid of the Gypsy King that easy. I'm here to stay," he wrote on Twitter.

Fury was also under investigation by UK Anti-Doping after being charged with using a prohibited substance, with the National Ant-Doping Panel due to rule on the allegations.

His cousin Hughie, who Parker is set to defend his belt against in Manchester on September 23, is also under investigation after testing positive for nandrolone in 2015.

Both fighters strong deny the allegations
