Parker's next fight in the US?

New Zealand boxer Joseph Parker's camp have shot down reports that they've agreed to a fight in the United States as he attempts to return to the top of the heavyweight division.

American magazine The Ring claims Parker has agreed to fight American Bryant Jennings in Atlantic City on 19 August.

However, David Higgins, head of Parker's promoters Duco, said the bout hasn't been confirmed. He said they were in negotiations with the Jennings camp, but said they had other options on the table including a fight with Russian Alexander Ustinov. Higgins said no deal will be made until the Parker camp are satisfied with the terms.

Parker lost his WBO title in a unanimous points decision loss to Britain's Anthony Joshua in their unification bout earlier this year, the first defeat of his professional career.

It will be Parker's first fight in the US since his victory over Keith Thompson in 2014.

Jennings has won his last four bouts with his only two losses coming in title fights against Wladimir Klitschko and Luis Ortiz.

From Philadelphia, 33-year-old Jennings has a pro record of 23 wins, 13 KO and two losses.

He's ranked eighth by the WBO's divisional rankings, two places below the sixth ranked New Zealander.

"This is a chance that most don't get again," Jennings told The Ring. "The pace and the back uphill battle is deemed to be a successful one."
