Two men charged with murder of Alec Moala in Auckland

The identities of the men aged 26 and 28 have been not been released.

Moala, who is married with three children, was shot last Sunday morning in Otahuhu.

His father Naeata told the New Zealand Herald that he believes his son died being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He said he has been told his son went to a house in Ōtāhuhu's Beatty St to help a woman in distress who was being beaten up.

During the week, Police appealed for information.

A team of detectives worked tirelessly since Sunday to identify those responsible and hold them to account.
