Militant video shows 18 Turkish workers kidnapped in Iraq

The 3-minute video released on Friday shows the men seated in front of five militants in black masks with machineguns. Behind them is a blue wall emblazoned with the group's alleged name, "Death Squads" in Arabic.

Next to the name are the words "Oh, Hussein" — a reference to a revered Shiite figure who was the Prophet Muhammad's grandson, suggesting the group is Shiite.

Isabelle Prime, 31, had been working in Yemen for the World Bank for about a year when she was kidnapped.

Smiling and wearing a blue cap and sunglasses, Prime stepped out of a French government jet around 1710 GMT and was met by French President Francois Hollande and Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, as well as several friends and family members.

After capturing Syrian town, IS abducts dozens of Christians

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Syria-based activist Bebars al-Talawy say they have no information where IS militants took the residents after overrunning the heavily populated town of Qaryatain.

The Observatory said Friday that "dozens" of Christian were among the people abducted, while al-Talawy put the number at 60. He says the rest of those abducted are Sunni Muslims.
