Ikale Tahi holds open session training ahead of Australia A game

This was after the players arrived in the country last week ahead of their game against Australia A this Friday.

Players such as Malakai Fekitoa, Augustine Pulu, Manu Paea and Charles Piutau to name a few, were seen training with the side.

Young fans were also seen in numbers at the training session and they managed to take pictures with their favourite rugby players and also got their signed autographs.

The upcoming match marks the anniversary of the 1973 'Ikale Tahi team that defeated the Wallabies in Brisbane.

Australia A named for Tonga clash

Foley was a surprise omission from the Rugby Championship squad, having returned from Japan to join the group in Sydney.

The Japan Rugby League One’s leading scorer will potentially reunite with former Waratahs teammate Jake Gordon in the halves.

They are two of 13 with Wallaby experience in the squad as players look to press their case for September’s World Cup.

This is especially evident in the forward pack, which includes the likes of Brumbies lock Cadeyrn Neville, returning Rebel Lukhan Salakaia-Loto and Reds number eight Harry Wilson.

Australia A win over Tonga puts them in the running for PNC title

If Samoa loses to the Flying Fijians then Australia A will be crowned the PNC champions but if the Samoans win then they’ll get the title.

Fijian winger Filipo Daugunu scored a double for the Australians.

Hooker Samiuela Moli got Tonga to a strong start with an unconverted try after two minutes following a driving maul from a lineout 10 meters out from the tryline.

Four minutes later Tonga was penalized inside their own half and Captain Ryan Lonergan managed to slot a three pointer.

Reality check for Fiji as Aussies win

Numerous handling errors and general play issues contributed to Fiji’s loss – a side that was given a reality check by Australia A, who played basic structured rugby to disrupt the Fijian side who had made 11 changes.

The Aussies were a totally different side bringing the game to Fiji who were at times under pressure.

Fiji who had looked to back its big performance last week against Tonga got off to a perfect start drawing first blood through the boot of Teti Tela.
