Australia man missing for 18 days 'survived on mushrooms'

Search efforts launched after Robert Weber, 58, went missing in the state of Queensland were called off this week.

But police said he had been found near a dam on Sunday by a "property owner", who has been identified in Australian media as a local politician.

Mr Weber was "suffering exposure to the elements" but otherwise safe and well, police said.

Before Sunday, he had last been seen leaving a hotel in the town of Kilkivan with his dog on 6 January. He ran into trouble when his car got stuck in dirt on a farm road.

Australian man crashes van with $140 million worth of meth into parked police cars

The cars were parked - right in front of a police station.

Police say the white Toyota HiAce contained more than 270 kilograms of the drug commonly known as ice, divided into 13 boxes each with 21 one-kilogram bags. The driver, identified by police as Simon Tu, 26, took off in the Toyota after the crash but was quickly tracked down and arrested.

"This would be one of the easiest drug busts the NSW Police force has ever made," NSW Police Detective Chief Inspector Glyn Baker told media. "Incredible, absolutely incredible."

Australian man trafficked wife and baby to India, police say

Police say the man, 27, used threats, coercion and deception to force his wife and two-month-old girl to leave against the woman's will in March.

He then allegedly tried to cancel his India-born wife's Australian visa.

The man faced a Sydney court on Tuesday on three charges, including human trafficking and forgery of documents.

"It is a disturbing case where we see a victim and their young child transported from Australia to a foreign jurisdiction without any means for them to return home," said Australian Federal Police Supt Dan Evans.
