Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie release first joint statement

The estranged couple has agreed to seal all court documents pertaining to their divorce in order to protect their six children.

"The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues. The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification," the couple said in a statement obtained by CNN.

The Oscar winner had been accused of mistreating son Maddox, 15, on board a private flight from France to Los Angeles.

Angelina Jolie filed for divorce soon afterwards and is seeking sole custody of their six children.

Social workers investigating the same claim cleared Pitt two weeks ago.

The FBI said: "In response to allegations made following a flight... carrying Mr Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation.

"No charges have been filed in this matter."

Brad Pitt's first post-split 'interview'

The star has been mostly MIA since his announced split from wife Angelina Jolie in September.

On Tuesday he made an appearance in Los Angeles at a screening for the film "Moonlight" and Wednesday attended an event for his new film, "Allied."

Pitt signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans as he walked the red carpet.

A Facebook Live of the event on the movie's Facebook page featured a brief interview with Pitt as he made his way down the carpet.

"It's really sweet, everyone's been very kind out here," Pitt said. "It's nice to have the support."

Brad Pitt cleared of wrongdoing after child abuse investigation

A source familiar with the situation told CNN on Wednesday that Pitt has been cleared by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) in its investigation of an alleged incident of abuse involving Pitt and one of his children.

The accusation stemmed from an incident on a private plane in September -- occurring one day before Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt after two years of marriage.

That has been the question since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in September -- and it remains in dispute.

Jolie's camp argues there is already an agreement in place that allows her to retain custody of Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.

The actor filed his divorce paperwork Friday at the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Pitt is seeking joint and physical custody of their six children in the divorce documents obtained by CNN.

Pitt cites irreconcilable differences and asked the judge to grant him more time to figure out a property agreement. Together the couple own homes in Los Angeles, New Orleans and France.

Jolie initially filed for divorce from Pitt in September after just two years of marriage. The actress is seeking physical custody of their children.

Brad Pitt spoke with LAPD over family incident

A source with knowledge of the situation said Thursday: "[Brad] is taking this very seriously and he's cooperated. He has always worked hard to be a good father and wants to do whatever is best for his family."

"LAPD is not handling any report of allegations of child abuse for Mr. Brad Pitt," LAPD Officer Jenny Houser told CNN.

A spokesman for LA County Children and Family Services, Armand Montiel, added that "DCFS is not allowed to confirm or deny any subject of allegations."

Marion Cotillard denies Brad Pitt affair rumours

The French actress addressed rumours in an Instagram post.

"Many years ago, I met the man of my life. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need," she said.

Cotillard also revealed she and her husband Guillaume Canet were expecting their second child.

The 40-year-old's private life had been thrown in to the spotlight following the news that Jolie had filed for divorce on Monday, citing "irreconcilable differences".
