Next All Blacks coach to be named next month

New Zealand Rugby chair Dame Patsy Reddy today confirmed the timeline for the appointment process for Foster's successor.

"Following wide ranging consultation and after carefully weighing up all scenarios and the key lessons from 2019, New Zealand Rugby is now commencing a process for selecting the All Blacks head coach from 2024," Dame Patsy said in a statement.

Wales delay team naming during dispute

Reuters reports Gatland was due to name his team on Wednesday, but held off with angry Welsh players to meet the Professional Rugby Board (PRB), which runs the game in the country, on Thursday in a bid to end their impasse and ward off a possible strike.

"I think with the uncertainty that was happening, there's a lot of meetings. I just wanted clarity for the boys with tomorrow then we come back (to train) on Friday," Gatland told reporters.

Penney says he would stand down

The Waratahs have conceded more than 100 points in two record losses to start the Super Rugby AU season after a 41-7 thrashing by the Queensland Reds last week and a 61-10 humbling at the ACT Brumbies on Saturday.

New Zealander Penney said his young side were "shattered" and "broken" after a masterclass in ruthless rugby from the nine-try Brumbies at Canberra Stadium.

"I love these boys and I'm doing my best," Penney said. "If other people think I'm not the right person, I'm not going to stand in the way.

Cheika wants an Aussie to be his Wallabies successor

Australia were dumped out of the Rugby World Cup in a 40-16 quarter-final defeat to England on Saturday.

Cheika brought his five-year stint in charge, which included a run to the World Cup final in 2015, to an end after the defeat.

New Zealand coaches Jamie Joseph and Dave Rennie have been linked with the post but, when touching down after flying back from Japan, Cheika told reporters Rugby Australia should look at home for their next appointment.

"I think definitely we should be pushing for an Australian coach," he said. 

Ian Foster sets sights on All Blacks coach job

Foster, in his eighth season as a Hansen deputy, told reporters in Auckland on Wednesday that he was keen to step up.

"If you're asking me what happens after [the World Cup], then we'll have to wait and see," the former Chiefs coach said.

"I'm absolutely committed to this team. This is my eighth season, and I'm keen to carry on. I'm excited about an opportunity to put my name in the ring as a head coach, but that's the future."

A veteran of 22 seasons, Tietjens is regarded as New Zealand’s and the sport’s most successful coach.

He has coached well over 100 international Sevens Tournaments since taking over the New Zealand sides in 1994.

Under Tietjens, the All Blacks Sevens team has become the most successful in the world, winning four Commonwealth games gold medals, 11 HSBC World Series Sevens titles including the 2012/2013 series, and two IRB Sevens World Championship titles in 2001 and in 2013.

Farah confirms split from Salazar

Farah, 34, said he was moving back to London, leading to his split from Salazar after more than six years working together.

The British long-distance runner said he would team up with Gary Lough, who has coached wife Paula Radcliffe.

"I'm moving back home, London, I really miss home," Farah said in a video posted on Twitter.

"Seeing my kids the way they were in the summer at the World Championships, I'm going to be back there. I'm very excited.
