He later signed for English outfit Wasps in 2019. He will now join Munster on a two-year deal once he completes his duties for the Coventry-based club.

Now eligible to represent Tonga, where he was born and raised, Fekitoa was a member of the All Blacks’ squad that defended the Webb Ellis Cup at the World Cup in Britain in 2015.

The 27-year-old Fusitu'a, who was the Warriors' longest-serving player, had two years left on his contract with the Auckland club and it is thought the Warriors will pay a proportion of his Leeds salary.

Fusitu'a, whose hat-trick famously helped Tonga beat New Zealand in the group stages of the 2017 World Cup, scored 61 tries in 108 appearances for the Warriors.

But he has played just 28 times in the last three seasons due to injury and returning home from Australia early in 2021, due to the border restrictions enforced by the global pandemic.

The decision comes two weeks after Lewis was stood down pending the outcome of an investigation into an alleged incident.

"After issuing Lachlan a breach notice and following due process regarding his response, the club has decided to part ways with Lachlan, effective immediately," Bulldogs CEO Aaron Warburton said in a statement.

"The Club is committed to supporting Lachlan during this time and we wish him all the best for the future."

Lewis played 43 matches for the Bulldogs across four seasons, scoring six tries and kicking one field goal. 

The club will file action against Spanish newspaper El Mundo, who published the contract.

According to the newspaper Messi was paid an eye watering four-year deal worth $932 million.
