Digicel distributes 500 packs in West Tongatapu

The areas in West Tongatapu were severely destroyed as a result of the tsunami that hit Tonga on 15 January.

Over 100 packs were distributed amongst the community in Kanakupolu, ‘Ahau and Ha’atafu.

Other packs were also delivered to households in Sopu, Pangatangata and Vuna Road who were also affected.

As Digicel supports children with special needs, food packs were also delivered to homes of children directly affected by the recent devastation. 

Digicel restores intermittent internet connection in Tonga

Digicel Tonga CEO, Anthony Seuseu, said; “We are thrilled to get internet connectivity back up in the Kingdom. Apart from our prepaid customers, we also managed to connect some business customers - ANZ, BSP and the National Reserve Bank of Tonga, Tonga Power, Lulutai Airlines, Air New Zealand and the Western Union.”

“Let’s Reconnect this Christmas | Annual Christmas visit to the Elderly”

Digicel visited 20 homes of the elderly between the ages of 83 and 95 years old to provide personalised Christmas gifts and share the spirit of the season. Santa and the Digicel senior managers Lionel Tu’inukuafe, Lineti Fifita, Ragigia Dawai and Evelini Hurrell led the team on this year’s visit. They spent the day in Popua, Anana, Ma'ufanga, Fasi, Ngele'ia, Pahu, Mailetaha, Kolofo'ou, Kolomotu'a, Hala'ovave, Fanga, Tofoa and Vaini.

“Movember to Remember | Walk/Run-a-thon”

Digicel celebrated the end of its “Movember to Remember” campaign promoting Men’s Health Awareness by hosting the Inaugural Movember Walk/Run-A-Thon at the Digicel square. The event marked the end of Movember with participants raising funds by growing their moustache and running or walking 5KM. Participants were treated to a Zumba class, breakfast and the finest barber in Tonga to shave their moustaches.

Every dollar raised at the fundraising event would be matched by Digicel and donated to the Ministry of Health for investment in prostate cancer and Men’s health initiatives.

Let’s Reconnect this Christmas | Digicel Golf Day”

Digicel hosted 45 of its business customers and partners at its Christmas Golf day held at the Tonga Golf Club. Santa and the Digicel team spent the day mixing and mingling with customers on the golf course. Multiple prizes were on offer for best team score, best team outfit, longest drive and closest to the pin. It was a fun filled day with a lot of laughter, sun and walking. Digicel staff valued this opportunity to spend time with its business customers and partners in a relaxed environment.

Santa and the Digicel team visited the Gifted Children at Mango Tree centre putting smiles on their faces by providing personalized Christmas gifts for each child and refreshments for all who attended their Annual prize giving.  This marks the 8th consecutive year that Digicel has supported the Mango Tree Centre for Gifted children at their annual prize giving.
